Good Sunday

04/06/2017 12:54

God has blessed us with incredible weather (so far) this summer. We enjoyed that good weather today. Attendance was good and there was a good spirit in the services. It was a blessing to have Jonathan Washer teach Sunday School this morning on Justification. He is going to take the adult/ teen SS hour for me which is a big help.

I preached this morning on Watchman, What of the Night? from Ezekiel 33:1-9. Thanks for praying for our ministry.

Saturday is our football tournament. Please pray for God's power and work in the hearts of those who come.

Busy times....

01/06/2017 08:08

Well, we enjoyed the slowness of the Spring knowing that we would be off and running this summer and we are into that pace. The Fellowship Meeting which we hosted went very well. Evangelist Washer shared with us how God has opened the doors for their prison ministry and preached an encouraging message on fighting and finishing for the Lord. Our family also enjoyed doing special music with their family.

Those who were able to be there went away encouraged. Thank you for praying for that day.

Yesterday morning I put out more flyers than I have ever put out in one morning! :) But, there is a reason. I went to 8 primary (elementary) schools with our Holiday Bible Club flyer. I also went to two highschools with our Football tournament flyer. All of these flyers have our website on them which would be an open door for the Gospel. Please pray for the several thousand students and families who will take these into their homes.

Please also pray for just the right turnout. Last year we had a lot of staff for the football tournament and not many participants. (But, it was accidentally scheduled on the Scottish Cup Final (footbal championship). This year we don't have much staff - and we could potentially have a good turnout.

Into Edinburgh....

29/05/2017 13:45

This morning I went into Edinburgh seeking witnessing opportunities and handing out flyers. It was very difficult at first. I don't know if it was natural - Monday morning blues/ colder weather blues/ hangover blues.... But, people weren't very engaging at first.

However, that changed when I met and 18 year old man, Kyle. Please pray for Kyle. I spoke with him for nearly an hour and a half as we sat on a park bench and I know the Lord was working in this young atheist's heart. I believe that there is a pretty good chance Brian will visit our church. Regardless of whether we ever see him again, please pray for God to break through in His life. He said, "I have been wondering, 'What's life all about?'" He also said, "You are almost convincing me." He was thoughtful and when a point was proven he accepted the point.

Afterwards I spoke with Duggy who is a recovering alcoholic. He had been an alcoholic for 31 years. I was able to show him the Gospel and encourage him to trust Christ. I believe he was very close to making a decision to trust the Lord. Please pray that He will do so. He had purposely sat down near where I was speaking with two boys. He had heard the conversation while walking past to buy a coffee. He returned with his coffee and sat nearby.

Please pray for Katie as she and two other ladies are working just now preparing for our fellowship meeting tomorrow. Please also pray for Evangelist Jonathan Washer as He opens God's Word with us tomorrow.

God's good. We're seeing His hand at work. Thank you for praying.

A GOOD morning.

28/05/2017 13:08

Everyone was able to be in church this morning and that was a blessing. God gave us a good spirit in the services and liberty in the teaching and preaching. We finished the last lesson for our leadership training. So, I now have the sermon audio, handouts and notes as a resource for anyone who wants to pariticpate in our ministry.

I preached this message on a sobering question asked by a disciple of Jesus, "Lord, are there few that be saved?" Please pray for those who hear it to be moved to either get saved or get involved in evangelism. Jesus answered with One Instruction To Be Saved and talked about the reality of the "many" who are on their way to Hell. Our children also sang this morning and did a fabulous job praising the Lord. Thank you for praying for our service.

It has been a busy weekend....

27/05/2017 22:37

...so far and tomorrow is Sunday. But, God has been good in our activities. He blessed with weather that was nearly too hot for our youth activity. We were in the low 80's. That is about 15 plus degrees above normal - so we were sweating. Three young boys joined us from the park and heard the Bible lesson.

Today we had a good group from our church help hand out flyers in Edinburgh. We put out around 1400 flyers in around an hour and a half. We had a few small opportunities to share the Gospel. God gave me a divine appointment this evening with Brian. He said that he will attend church tomorrow. Please pray that he will do so.

Thank you for praying for our ministry.

Flyers for Football Tournament

24/05/2017 13:39

This morning we began putting out flyers for our football tournament as well as the new Gospel flyer. Jonathan Washer and I went into Auchendinny this morning and did about 250-300 houses. I also showed him around the Glencouse Centre where the tournament will be held. This even is going to be here before we know it.

We enjoyed a good prayer time last night as our men gathered to pray. Bernard and Violet are a sweet older Christian couple who have become dear friends of ours. Bernard has met with us for our weekly prayer time for a couple years. He also regularly attends our church. Violet attends our ladies meetings and church when her mobility allows her to do so. They are moving to England on Saturday. We will really miss them but also know that God has definitely directed them down there. Please pray for them as they move South.

We have a busy weekend coming up. We have a youth activity on Friday. If the weather holds, Saturday morning will see our church putting flyers out on Princess St. in Edinburgh. Tuesday is our fellowship meeting. We'd appreciate your prayers for each one of these ministry opportunities.

A new name in glory....

21/05/2017 13:24

Last night Jonathan Washer, his son and myself did some evangelism in a park near where they are staying. A 15 year old boy, Andre' was there and I was albe to with open Bible share the Gospel with him. He prayed to accept Jesus as His Saviour. I don't know that we will ever see Andre' again if his parents don't allow him to come to our church. (20 minutes away by car or half an hour by bus.) Please pray that God will work in their hearts about letting him come. If not, please pray that God will bless and protect Andre'.

We had an unusual day today. The Hikin family are ill and unable to attend. Another lady was ill and unable to attend. However, we had the Washer family there as well as two young men who are in Bible college in Scotland. One of those young men was with us for the first time. God also brought back a woman who hasn't attended in a wee while. So, we had a good morning despite it not being as we had planned.

I preached this morning on "God's Law" from Deuteronomy 4. The Lord gave us a good service and good spirit in the service. Thank you for praying.

The Washer Family has Arrived

18/05/2017 15:41

Benson went with me yesterday to meet the Washer's at Waverley Train Station in the heart of Edinburgh. They safely made it over here with their three boys, five large pieces of luggage, 4 carry on sutcases, and back packs. Praise the Lord. Jonathan said that there were several times where they had just the right help at just the right time. They made their train with five minutes to spare!

In other news, our football flyers arrived today and I also ordered our Holiday Bible Club flyer today. I'm glad to be going again on making new flyers. I got a mac recently and these are my first flyers with different software. I'll put some pics of the new flyers below.

Flyers with Don in North Queensferry

17/05/2017 13:30

The Lord blessed us with beautiful weather today as we put out Gospel flyers for Don's church. Please pray for divine contacts for their ministry. It's hard getting started. God has given them one faithful lady so far and she has been a blessing to them. Please pray for others to join their group.

The Washers have safely arrived in the UK and are currently on a northbound train from London arriving later this afternoon in Edinburgh. I'll be meeting them and helping them to the flat they have rented for the summer. Thank you for praying for their adjustment to our time zone, weather, etc.

The Washers are heading our way.

16/05/2017 11:26

Please pray for Jonathan and Emily Washer and their three boys as they head over to Scotland today. They have a long journey ahead of them as they fly into London and then take train to Edinburgh. Our church is excited about having them with us for the next three months. I sent our football flyer off to be printed yesterday. That event takes place on 10 June. Lord willing, we will be able to begin putting that out next week.

I'm just back from putting out a few hundred flyers in a part of Edinburgh that is about two miles from us. I went out of my way to hand a flyer to a few people walking past but didn't get into any conversations. I enjoyed listening to Pastor David O'Gorman preach on the two thieves and a message on evangelism. It was just what I needed this morning. Thank you for praying.
