Praying for revival....

02/09/2018 13:18

The Lord gave us a good morning and most of our regular folks were in attendance. We had a young girl with us today who has only ever visited on a Thursday night. It was good to have her with us on a Sunday.

I preached this morning a message which I have preached at our church before. In fact I've preached it twice before. God put it on my heart to preach it again and I did. It is a message on revival from Isaiah 41 on Seeking Revival. It is very close in Scripture to the promise claimed by those who sought the Lord previous to the awakening on the Isle of Lewis in the 1950's.  It is the same promise though the specific verses they claimed are three chapters later. Both passage speak about God's Spirit as watered poured out by God.

Will you please pray with us for revival? This alone will meet the need of our community. We can faithfully preach, pray, evangelize.... But, I feel the truth of the song which says, "All is vain unless the Spirit of the Holy One comes down. Brethren pray and Holy Manna shall be showered all around." We have a great platform this week for God to do a great work and we are looking to Him to do it. We have evangelistic meetings with Evangelist John Van Gelderen this Thursday - Sunday. Additionally we are hosting a fellowship meeting on Saturday morning. Thanks for praying with us as we seek the Lord this week.

A dog ate my F. D. T.

28/08/2018 12:19

For those who have been around our webpage for a while, you may remember my F. D. T. is my Flyer Distribution Tool. In Laymen's terms it is known commonly as a small plastic handled "cheese board." But to the the initiated, an F. D. T. We use these to protect us from D. O. G's or dogs. D. O. G.'s are the enemy of the flyer distributor as they lurk on the other side of people's mail slots. You may not be aware that the most dangerous type of D. O. G. are the silent ones. Their silence betrays their sinister character and secret desire to catch an unsuspecting flyer distributor. Sadly, I let my guard down today as I listened to a great sermon on hope. You would laugh if you saw the size of the D. O. G. who stole my paddle. He was about the size of my paddle. I humbly knocked with a desire to retrieve my weapon. However, the owner was not home and will probably not be suprised to see that Jr. has as a new play toy. It has probably happened before. I actually think this dog may have taken another one from me in the past.

In all seriousness, I almost forgot the above incident as later God gave me a great opportunity to share the Gospel with a woman. I had not met her before but I do know her husband. I've prayed for him many times in the past as we would often see each other walking. Please pray that God will bless the seed sown through the mail slots as well as through this divine appointment.

Thank you for your prayers.

God has given us another visitor....

26/08/2018 13:13

God has given us a lot of visitors lately. Our visitor today is a young mother from Ireland. She was here today visiting her inlaws in Edinburgh. It was a joy to have her with us this morning.

The children were faithful to come to church this morning. We had seven children there who came on their own or with their siblings. Praise the Lord. My wife takes our van around to collect them for church.

I preached this morning on Hell from Revelation 20:10-15, "What It Takes to Go To Hell." Nobody who really understands what Hell is like would want to go there. Before I preached a heavy message on Hell, I enjoyed singing a song about Heaven. It's a good old song. If you'd like to listen in I included it at the beginning of the sermon audio this morning.

Thank you for praying for our ministry.

Freedom of the press....

23/08/2018 11:46

I am very thankful for the privilige God has given me of putting articles into our local county newspaper. I'm given this opportunity once or twice a year. My most recent article came out today. I'm limited to 350 words and I used all of them. God gave wisdom and the article printed this week was a clear presentation of the Gospel. My title was, "Can I be saved?" The title they printed was, "You must call upon the name of the Lord and be saved" (wow!) Praise the Lord! Please pray that God will use this article to awaken hearts and bring sheep into His fold.

Scottish weather is back....

19/08/2018 13:11

All summer long we told Holly (intern) that our weather was abnormally good. Ever since she left we have had normal Scottish weather. The remnants of a tropical storm went through here last night and it has been a misty morning. We enjoyed good attendance today despite some being away on holidays. Part of that attendance was having guests with us who are on holiday. We did have one Christian lady visit this morning who is looking for a church. So, that was a special blessing.

I preached this  morning a message about the stewardship of God's vineyard from Luke 20:9-19, Entrusted with Eternity. For some reason, unknown to me, the equipment decided to record properly. *Thank you for praying... It may be a temporary praise, but I am thankful to have good audio today.

We also enjoyed having Miss Amanda Baker with us. Amanda is a BWM missioanry in England. She came up on Friday with Courtney Jones and her daughter, Lyndsey. (The Jones family are missionaries in Thailand with BWM.) Lyndsey is getting to go on a senior trip with her mom to some different countries. We were thankful to have been a part of their itenerary.

Please pray for the salvation of a man I spoke with this past week. There are some very neat ways God is working in His life and I anticipate hearing that he has gotten saved. I had the joy of sharing the Gospel with him for an hour this past week. I've known him for a couple years and have spoken with him before.

Outreach in Loanhead

14/08/2018 11:52

Tommy (who attends our church) helped me today as we put out flyers in Loanhead. We have a men's prayer time on Tuesday mornings and Tommy stayed on to help with some outreach. God gave us a really fun and refreshing divine appointment with a believer. This older woman got saved 6 years ago. She gave me a hug right after meeting me as she said, "I'm a Baptist." It was a joy to hear how God brought her to himself. Please pray that God will bless her testimony and help her to reach her area of Loanhead.

Thank you for praying for our day.

God gave me a good voice today and I feel pretty well back to normal. That is a big praise as I thought my voice could be very weak today after a few days of chest congestion. I also had 4 preaching opportunities today. So.... thank you very much for your prayers. God was good to help us with a very busy day after a very busy week.

It was an unusually high attendance day. We had to add a row of chairs in the back during the morning service. I enjoyed preaching on Psalm 66:16-20, "From the Prayer of Man to the Answer of God." It was a message on prayer but also specifically the prayer of salvation. Please pray for those that heard the message that need to be saved.

The young man who visited with him mom gave us some great news this weekend. His mum shared with us yesterday how he came downstairs crying Friday night. He was talking about how he heard how Jesus was whipped for his sin and that he had asked God to be saved. Please pray for this young family. His dad is not yet a believer but his mum was saved about 5 years ago.

Day 4 and Day 5

10/08/2018 13:42

Well.... HBC is over for another year. :) It is always a lot of fun, a lot of effort and rewarding. God has helped our church people to really step up and get involved. We ran our own HBC this year and it went really well. We had a total of 34 children plus a few adults present for at least one day of HBC. Most of the kids were there most of the days. We had attendance in the low to mid 20's daily.

Thank you so much for your prayer participation. We had 3 children tell us that they prayed this week to ask Jesus to forgive them of their sins and to save them. I would appreciate your prayers for our ministry on Sunday as it is our busy Sunday with 4 services. I've got a cold and would appreciate your prayers for my voice. One mother who attended this week with her children has said that she plans to visit this Sunday with her son. She is a believer who was saved 5 years ago. Another lady contacted us this week and wants to visit the church. Please pray for us as we meet her, Lord willing, next week.

Another special blessing this week was having family members of church members out to our church for the first time. Please pray that these grandsons will want to keep coming.

Day 2 and Day 3

08/08/2018 14:02

God has given us a significant increase in children the last two days. Yesterday was our highest attendance with 25 children. We have now had a total of 29 children attend. One 9 year old girl who has been attending for several months told me that she prayed yesterday and asked God to forgive her for her sin. Please pray for her as we seek to follow up and see if she has genuinely understood the Gospel. The children listened very well today. Thank you for praying!

Holly is currently on a plane bound for home. It was a blessing to have her here doing her internship! Please pray for God's blessing on her life as she follows after Him.

HBC Day 1

06/08/2018 13:22

We had fun today with the children God brough out to our first day of HBC in Loanhead. We have started the week with 17 children. 2 of them were first time visitors. There was a good attitude among the kids and the program ran very well. Thank you for praying.
