A fun Sunday.

22/09/2013 13:56

The Lord gave us an encouraging morning. Although the Hikins were unable to be there with their family, we still had 28 people present this morning. (I just talked with Mark and they are doing much better. Thanks for praying for them.)  There was also a sweet spirit in our services. Katie and Adele have split the children into two Sunday School classes. It's a blessing to have a ministry to the different age groups.

J_____________ and his girlfriend didn't make it. However, he texted me and let me know that his dad had just been admitted to hospital. So, Lord willing, they will be either with us on Thursday or Sunday. Please keep praying for them and for his father.

God's good. We have been reminded of His gracious plan for our ministry. We appreciate your prayers.

Getting Ready for Sunday.

21/09/2013 22:19

The Lord gave us a good Saturday. Benson was my door to door partner today. The kids are learning that whoever goes with me gets to buys some sweeties. So, they have some extra motivation to assist me. (I bet your pastor would consider that if you'd go along with him. :) We had a few good we chats.

Katie made a couple visits this afternoon and we all visited this evening. It was a very enjoyable day and we enjoyed finding many friends at home. Please pray that God's hand would be on our services tomorrow. I'm preaching on; the armour of God in SS, victory over depression AM, and The Door opening to the Gentiles in the PM.

Our family is doing better today. I was up for an hour and a half with Kay Lee during the night but she never got sick. The Hikins were ill during the night but Mark said they were a bit better this evening. We'd appreciate your continued prayers for the sickness. Thanks for praying. God's good!

Refreshed

20/09/2013 22:34

The Lord reminded me today how much He can be involved in our day. We had 4 divine appointments. One was in front of our home. Two others were in Edinburgh. Those two were with two different people/families for whom our church is praying. Another was as I was waiting to park my car. I ended up giving two men a lift down the road a few blocks.  S____________ said he would visit our church. Please pray for God's continued blessing and guidance. It is refreshing to see His hand at work.

Illness is going around again. We'd really appreciate your prayers for our church folks. The Hikins who were there on Thursday night all have a stomach bug. We have a few in our family with similar symptoms as well. This has already been a couple weeks of illness. Please pray for God to use this to strengthen our church and that if it please Him it would be short in duration. Thanks for praying.

Getting out and about.....

18/09/2013 11:52

I'm just happy to not be lost after the neighborhood I went through this morning. You'd have to see it to understand it. There are rows of houses that turn every which way and at times have no road and parking lot around them. I asked the postman how often he get's lost doing his route. He said he has been doing it for too long to get lost. I'm sure it was not an easy route to get use to when he started.

I had a couple short conversations with people and put out around 300 flyers. Please pray that God will water the seed. I watched the first young man that received one put it in the bin just down the road. It's a good reminder that it takes God's grace even when it is just words on a paper.

I received a text this morning from J________. He made plans with me for attending church and joining us for lunch. Please pray that we can be a blessing to he and his girlfriend.  Thanks for interceding for our ministry.

I've been encouraged today by the reminder of "God's still small voice" as he revealed himself to Elijah. It's easy to get focused on the "big" things and miss seeing God at work.

Brrr....

17/09/2013 09:01

Our weather has really changed in the last couple of days. Over the weekend we had gale force winds and now we have temperatures in the morning which are in the low forties.  We turned our heat on last night and accidently left it on all night. So, we feel like we are in Florida right now if we stay inside! :)

The Lord has given a couple more divine appointments this weekend. One young man is from Slovakia. Please pray for M___________. I know it was a divine appointment as I had just prayed for an opportunity to share the Gospel on my way back to my house. We also had an opportunity last night. Please pray for J______________ and his girlfriend to visit the church.

Today we start back with art class with Mr. Alec. Benson and Logan are excited about getting back over there. We are back into the normal routine and the kids are getting used to their new school schedule. Thank you for praying for Katie as she has a lot of extra work to do while school is in session.

Door to door....

14/09/2013 16:36

Kay Lee was my helper this morning as I did door to door. The Lord gave us one very good opportunity to speak with a young atheist. We chatted for over half an hour and went through a lot of Scripture. The Lord guided and this young man was very kind to listen. He brought up the pope's recent comment that atheists can go to heaven. I showed him Rev. 21:8, Rom. 3:23, and 3:10.  The second two verses were to show that the pope is not infallible.  Please pray for this young man. I'd love to chat with him further.

The headlines yesterday for BBC Scotland were about a public school where a chaplain was recently removed. The reason was because of his position against evolution and for creation. Please pray for this country. If you want to read the article, please click on the following link.

Thursday night....

13/09/2013 07:46

Mark and I had extra prayer time last night. We get to do that when it is only the two of us for the adult Bible study. Although I would love to have had more in attendance, we need this prayer time. The kids had a great class and they really had fun last night. (I know my wife did as well.) They played a Bible game for the last several minutes and there was a lot of "joy" in that room. Thanks for praying for our ministry.

PS.  Steve Anderson has come down with this illness. :( Please pray for his speedy recovery and that Martha will continue to be well. They have a very busy schedule.

Great Fellowship!

10/09/2013 18:36

The Lord gave us a fabulous time at the pastor's fellowship. It was well attended and there was a great Spirit. We were blessed by the preaching ministry of Steve Anderson and enjoyed a sweet prayer/praise time as well. Thanks for helping us get through the illness this weekend. We believe that God enabled us to get well just in time.

The Lord blessed the ladies meeting last night as Martha Anderson spoke to the ladies. There were seven ladies counting Katie. We're excited about this ladies group.

Thank you for praying.

All clear.... :)

Well, praise the Lord, it appears like we are out of the woods with this illness. That is a big praise! I wondered yesterday if we were going to have to cancel our ministries today and tomorrow.

We are scheduled to go forward with both ministries. Please pray for the ladies Bible study this evening. Rather than being at our home, we have moved it to a building at the place where we meet for church.

Our pastor's fellowship will be as planned. I have the BBQ going and will be grilling some chicken for that event as I type. (The meat is not on just yet - so no fear that it is going to burn.)

Thanks for your prayers. Please continue to pray for the other families in our church who have illness.

Sickness. :(

08/09/2013 14:35

We have had a very unusual Sunday. During the night we realized that Katie and Kay Lee would be unable to attend due to illness. This morning two other families let us know that they were unable to come due to illness. We already knew of another family that wouldn't be coming because they have had colds for over a week.

So, we changed plans for our Sunday and had brother Steve take both hours this morning and have cancelled tonight. The Andersons were headed to another missionaries home in Fife on Tuesday and we just sped things up and got them over there today. Our hope is that they will not get this virus.

Meanwhile, it seems evident that we are going to have to cancel our ladies meeting tomorrow night. I'm not sure right now what to do about the Tuesday Pastor and Wives fellowship meeting. Katie is the backbone behind the organization of that and right now she is really ill.

Will you please pray for wisdom for us and for healing for all who are ill? We know that God's plan is best and He has been very gracious to us today. Thanks for your prayers.
