Numb hands.... :)
29/10/2013 11:49I am just back from doing flyers for the last couple of hours. It isn't that cold - upper 40's, but the wind is blowing pretty well. So, I am not typing that well at the moment as my hands thaw. God's good. I had a couple opportunities to share the Gospel. One was a good opportunity and one didn't appear to be good. :) The good one was with a young lady, J_____________. Please pray that God will guard the Gospel seed that was planted in her heart. She has a New Testament which a friend gave her. I hope she will start reading it. The other older man was a skeptic and against God (if there is a God.) God in His mercy gave Him an opportunity today to be confronted with his unbelief. Please pray that it will go home to his heart.
Baptism
27/10/2013 17:16Thanks for praying for Jessie's baptism. It was a special service and we thank the Lord for Jessie's obedience to the Lord. We had good attendance today. It was the end of British Summer Time. So, we got an extra hour this morning. I preached on Judges 1-2 this morning and on the Hebrews 10:23 this afternoon. We really appreciate the Baptist Church in North Berwick accommodating us for the baptismal service. They have a lovely building which God has provided. It is good encouragement to us to pray for God's provision of a permanent location in His timing. Thanks for praying for us.We need it and we are thankful for it.
Logan is lucky. :)
26/10/2013 12:02I don't understand it, but Logan finds everybody home when he does door to door with me. He also gets the most smiles. It must be the blonde hair. We had several good chats this morning. My heart goes out to those we met. I trust the Lord will encourage them to pursue truth. One young man has gone to the Church of Scotland all of his life. He is now in his late 20's and lost. He was kind but had no answer about how someone would know they were going to Heaven when they die. I gave him a copy of the Gospel of John and Romans. Please pray that the message of the Cross will go home to his heart.
We're excited about our baptismal service tomorrow. Please pray for God's blessing. The weather is supposed to be bad overnight Sunday but should ok tomorrow. Parts of the UK are braced for the worst storm in 26 years. It looks now as if it will pass South of Scotland. Thanks for your prayers.
More flyers....
24/10/2013 11:13I've been able to put flyers out every day this week. The Lord gave me one good opportunity this morning with an older man, P__________________. The Lord directed in our conversation and I hope this gentleman will consider the claims of the One who suffered for Him. I had another lady come out and throw the flyer in her recycling bin. She said she wasn't interested. Please pray that God will work in her heart. She was taking her bin back inside. So, she will have the flyer for two weeks regardless. :)
I
"I don't know what to believe."
21/10/2013 13:14I enjoyed speaking to a kind lady about the Lord this morning. She asked a question that I think many would echo. She asked how do you know what religion is right? It was a blessing to show her that God's Word is the answer. We looked at the fact that all have sinned and that Jesus died for sinners. We saw in John 1 that Jesus is God. etc. I gave her the book of John and Romans and encouraged her to find answers in God's Word. Please pray that God will meet A___________'s needs.
I had one other good chat with an 82 year old man who was not brought up in church. He thanked me for the conversation. I'd love to have him come to our church and find out what church is all about.
Thank you for praying for us. I put out a few hundred flyers this morning.
Balmy Scotland
20/10/2013 15:59I was talking to my dad last night and they were possibly going to get their first snowfall back in Wisconsin. In contrast to that, here we had a very mild day with sunshine and a light breeze. The 4 older kids and I just enjoyed going on a nice walk near our home. We walked to a place called, "Maiden Castle," which is a hill more than a castle, that they say was occupied from about 1000 BC to 200 AD. It's a pretty walk.
God gave us a good morning. We had 21 children (!!!!!!) and 10 adults come this morning. A couple of these "children" are in their early teen years. Please pray that we'll have wisdom how to reach them. I preached from II Chronicles 14-16 on, "Are You With HIM?" King Asa and the tribes of Judah and Benjamin were told that God would be with them as long as they were with him. Most of Asa's reign was successful because he chose to be with God. When he departed God proved his success was only because God had been with him.
Tonight we are looking at the Gospel to the Gentiles in Acts 10 and 11. Peter is going to defend his decision to obey God and take the Gospel to the Gentiles. Thanks for joining us in your prayers to God for our ministry.
Baptist World Annual Meeting
16/10/2013 20:55My dad had the privilege of preaching last night at the Baptist World Mission annual meeting at Calvary Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. If you have time to listen to the message, you can do so via this link. My heart was greatly encouraged by it. He preaches on listening to the voice of God.
Out and about....
14/10/2013 11:54I put out flyers all morning. The Lord gave me encouragement in Him as I walked. I was thinking about how people defend their anger with, "I've got Irish blood in me." I thought we should defend our boldness with, "I've got Christ's blood in me." It is wonderful to realize that we can't but He can - in every situation. (ie. ministry ability, boldness, victory over sin, etc.) I was humming "Christ liveth in me" much of the morning.
I had one very good opportunity to share Christ and give out a copy of John and Romans. Please pray for a young man, R_____________________, to begin seeking after God. He was a gracious listener.
Reaching forth unto those things....
13/10/2013 20:55Well another week began today and we got off to a good start. The Lord gave us a good day despite many being ill. I preached this morning on "Why Did Jesus Go to the Cross?" Our text was Isaiah 53:10-12. Our visitors didn't come, but we'll keep praying for them and Lord willing see them attend at some point. Thanks for praying with us.
Good visits....
12/10/2013 12:12Kay Lee was my helper this morning as we invited people to church. The Lord gave us two great visits. Please pray for an older lady, A_____________, who has badly broken her arm. She has visited Katie's ladies Bible study in the past and hopes to come again. We hope she will visit our church.
We are starting a men and woman's visitation program on one Saturday evening each month. Tonight is the men's visitation. Please pray for good visits. Lord willing, we will have guests in our service tomorrow. We appreciate your prayers for God's hand to be evident in our ministry and that they would feel very welcome in our meetings. Thanks for traveling to Scotland on your knees. :)
